The Johnston Peach Blossom Festival announced today the winners of the 7th Annual Bass Fishing Tournament, held as part of the Festival on May 1. There were 38 teams participating.
First place team in the tournament was Allen Rogers and Jamie Gayle with a total of 21.66 pounds. Second place was Seth Hartley and William Bedenbough with a total of 20.74 pounds; third place was David Sullivan and Jimmy Holmes with a total of 20.42 pounds. Adult Big Fish Winner was Jacob Black and Jake Asbill with 7.18 pounds, and second in the category was Seth Hartley and William Bedenbough with 6.2 pounds.
Youth Big Fish winner was Weston Herlong with 5.6 pounds.
At this year’s Festival, thousands of patrons descended on Johnston to enjoy the day set aside to honor the peach industry, which has been so important in the development of the area. Each year, the Town goes all out with the Festival to remind citizens about the peach industry and to open its arms to visitors.

The Johnston Development Corporation, a non-profit volunteer organization, sponsors the Festival. The Corporation works to aid the community in areas such as economic development, education, recreation, historic preservation, tourism, scientific and cultural opportunities, and continued promotion of Johnston.
